In short: What begins as a serialized story on a user-generated website can transform into a multi-media franchise. Starting on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2020, this Japanese romantic comedy evolved through light novels, manga, and eventually an anime series, proving the massive reach of digital publishing.

The series, written by Yu Hibari and illustrated by Shiso, began its life on the user-generated publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō. It was serialized online from June 13, 2020, until July 31, 2026. This digital origin paved the way for a formal publication deal with Kadokawa Shoten, which released eleven volumes under the Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint between February 27, 2021, and July 31, 2026. The light novel series eventually saw an English release through Yen Press in late 2026. This expansion highlights the global appeal of the original web content.

The franchise expanded into several other formats. Kina Ōyama provided the illustrations for a manga adaptation, which appeared on Niconico Seiga via the Dra Dra Flat brand between 2 September 2021 and 26 June 2025. This version was collected into seven tankōbon volumes released between April 8, 2022, and July 9, 2025. The manga was published by Fujimi Shobo. It was made available through the Niconico Seiga platform.

The multimedia reach extended to television with an anime adaptation produced by Project No.9. Following an announcement during Kadokawa's Sneaker Bunko 35th Anniversary Festa! The series broadcasted from 6 July to 21 September 2026, following an announcement in September 2023. The story follows Hayato Kirishima and Haruki Nikaido, childhood friends who reunite in the city seven years after their separation, only to discover evolving feelings for one another. The television production was directed by Xu Chuan Feng. Music for the series was composed by Ryosuke Nakanishi, Naoki Tani, and Yuri Morita.
