The girl who broke a 70-year Olympic skating record
In short: From a fur wholesaler's daughter to an international icon, Sonja Henie redefined figure skating. This documentary explores her meteoric rise from a child on skates to the youngest champion in Olympic history.
Henie began skating at age six and achieved national dominance as the Norwegian Skating Champion by fourteen. Her rapid ascent culminated at the 1928 Olympics, where she secured the gold medal at just 15 years old.
Her victory established her as the youngest Olympic skating champion, a record that remained unbroken for seven decades. The film contextualizes her journey from local talent to global phenomenon.
