The internet's most viral conspiracy theory involves the reincarnation of world leaders

In short: When Trisha Paytas announces a pregnancy, the internet doesn't just celebrate—it predicts. A bizarre digital phenomenon has linked the births of her children to the deaths of global icons, turning personal milestones into a high-stakes game of cosmic timing.

The phenomenon began in September 2022, following the birth of Paytas's first daughter just days after the death of Queen Elizabeth II. What started as a viral joke quickly evolved into a recurring internet meme that tracks the deaths of influential figures to the arrival of her children. This strange digital tradition is part of a broader, often turbulent media presence that has spanned decades. Her career has seen her move from a 2007 YouTube channel dedicated to Quentin Tarantino to becoming a major podcasting force.

The pattern expanded far beyond the British monarchy. In February 2024, social media users humorously suggested King Charles III might be reincarnated as Paytas's second child following his cancer diagnosis. By April 2025, the theory grew even more ambitious, with users predicting the reincarnation of Pope Francis after his death. These predictions have become a staple of her online narrative, alongside her documented struggles with various addictions and mental health challenges. Even as she navigates these public-facing theories, she continues to expand her professional reach into new industries.

The meme reached a peak in July 2025, coinciding with the death of musician Ozzy Osbourne on the same day Paytas announced the name of her third child. While the internet treats these connections as a humorous game of cosmic coincidence, Paytas has expressed that the speculation can be upsetting, noting that it has occasionally ruined the significance of her children's births.

This digital folklore exists alongside Paytas's highly documented and often controversial life, which includes everything from her early YouTube career and music releases to her transition to a non-binary identity and her recent move into Broadway acting. The weight of such public scrutiny is significant, especially as she manages a massive audience, with her Just Trish podcast accumulating roughly 145 million views as of August 2025. She remains a fixture in the spotlight, recently preparing for a Broadway debut in the Beetlejuice revival.
