A new era of fear: the high-stakes stunts of Khatron Ke Khiladi 15
In short: Filmed in Cape Town, South Africa, the fifteenth season of this Indian reality series pushed contestants to their limits. From intense pellet-gun sequences to painful hot wax tasks, the season's demanding stunts sparked significant viewer backlash and raised serious concerns regarding contestant safety and injury.
The fifteenth season of Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi, titled 'Darr Ka Naya Daur', premiered on Colors TV on 1 August 2026. Hosted by Rohit Shetty, the production was a collaboration between Endemol Shine India and Banijay Asia. While the season was intended to offer a promising start with more demanding stunts designed to confront individual fears, it ultimately became a subject of significant controversy among viewers. The season's title track was released early in June. This production was filmed entirely within a 40-day window.
The production faced criticism for specific stunt sequences that many found difficult to watch. A specific segment featuring a pellet gun caused controversy when participants were hit multiple times by rubber projectiles at short distances. Another episode featuring a hot wax stunt was criticized for being unnecessarily painful. These physically demanding tasks led to widespread concerns regarding the risk of injuries sustained by the participants. Viewers specifically targeted the pellet-gun segment for its intensity. Many observers felt the wax task was excessively grueling.
The season's journey began with an official announcement via a press conference on 9 May 2026. While the series was originally slated for a 25 July 2026 premiere, it was postponed to 1 August 2026 due to a TRP blackout. Following a 40-day filming schedule in South Africa that concluded in June 2026, the competition culminated in a grand finale shoot in Mumbai on 13 September 2026. Avinash Mishra was crowned the season winner, with Rithvik Dhanjani finishing as the first runner-up. The series was first teased on YouTube in May. A promotional clip featuring cricketer Morné Morkel was also released.
