In short: In late 2025, the high-stakes drama of Bigg Boss Kannada season 12 moved from social competition to a legal battle. A sudden government order halted production, briefly ejecting contestants from their house and leaving the future of the season in uncertainty.

The twelfth season of the Banijay-produced reality series, hosted by Kichcha Sudeep for his twelfth consecutive year, began on 28 September 2025. The season introduced a unique structural mechanic: viewers voted on whether housemates entered as solo contestants, known as 'onti', or as duos, known as 'janti'. To enter as a solo housemate, a contestant required at least 75% of the live audience's votes. The roster of 19 participants included various talents, such as the international powerlifter Raghavendra Hondadakeri and the fitness enthusiast Karibasappa. Some contestants, like Rajath and Chaithra Kundapur, joined the competition later as mid-season wild card entries.

An outside emergency disrupted the social trial on 7 October 2025. Vels Studios and Entertainment Private Limited received a directive from the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board to shut down their facility instantly. The board cited violations of environmental regulations at the premises, effectively halting all activities at the site. The board's notice specifically targeted the operations of Vels Studios and Entertainment Private Limited. This sudden legal pressure forced an immediate cessation of all studio activities.

This regulatory intervention led to a brief suspension of the show on 8 October 2025, during which contestants were removed from the house for several hours. Production resumed the following day, 9 October, when the participants were returned to the house.

Despite the mid-season disruption, the season concluded with Gilli Nata (Nataraj) claiming the BBK 12 trophy. He was followed by runner-up Rakshita Shetty and third-place finisher Ashwini Gowda. The competition featured diverse personalities, ranging from the social media figure Maathina Malli to the radio jockey RJ Amit Pawar. Even the immunity tasks were intense, with Sudhir Balraj securing safety by nominating Mallamma.
