His career is defined by a dramatic evolution from supporting roles to a cinematic moment so impactful it is now considered a legendary piece of Korean pop culture.
Lee Jin-wook's professional trajectory began with a significant academic pivot. Originally a student of Environmental Engineering at Cheongju University, he transitioned into the entertainment industry as a commercial model before landing his first television role in 2005. His rise to prominence was solidified by a series of diverse roles, ranging from a TV anchor in the time-traveling romance Nine (2013) to a lead in the crime thriller Voice (2018–2019). A commercial titan, the sequel achieved a peak premiere audience score for any OCN original drama. This success paved the way for his transition into major global streaming hits, including the Netflix apocalyptic horror series Sweet Home and the high-stakes Squid Game.
