In short: Before he was commanding starships or voicing Disney villains, Todd Stashwick was chasing a dream of comedy in Chicago. His journey from the legendary Second City troupe to major television franchises reveals a versatile talent spanning live improv, comic books, and video game writing.

Born in Chicago, Todd Stashwick’s career began with a childhood ambition to perform at The Second City. After earning a theater degree from Illinois State University, he realized this goal in 1992, when he was hired to tour nationally with the renowned improvisational troupe. His early professional path took him through Second City Detroit and Northwest before a move to New York, where he even auditioned for Saturday Night Live.

Stashwick’s television career is marked by a diverse range of roles across various genres. He gained prominence playing Dale Malloy in The Riches, a role that lasted until the series was cancelled in September 2008. He later transitioned into science fiction and fantasy, portraying Theodore Deacon in 12 Monkeys from 2015 to 2018, and appearing as Captain Liam Shaw in the 2023 season of Star Trek: Picard. His versatility also extends to voice work, notably as Dr. Drakken in the 2019 Disney Channel film Kim Possible.

Beyond acting, Stashwick is a creator and writer. In 2010, at San Diego Comic-Con, he and artist Dennis Calero launched the web comic Devil Inside, which follows the character Jack Springheel—a figure attempting to escape hell and live in the Nevada desert. His writing ventures also include a cancelled Star Wars video game project for Electronic Arts and Visceral Games, co-written with Amy Hennig, and the development of the space adventure pilot Clandestine for the Syfy channel.
