In short: Yasmine Bleeth became a global icon of 1990s beauty, but her rise to stardom was shadowed by a severe cocaine addiction. From high-profile television roles to a harrowing legal battle, her journey offers a raw look at the mechanics of celebrity, recovery, and personal resilience.

Bleeth's career began in infancy, appearing in a Johnson & Johnson commercial at just 10 months old in 1969. By age 6, she was on Candid Camera and soon entered the fashion world, appearing in a Max Factor campaign that caught the eye of photographer Francesco Scavullo. This early trajectory led to a prolific career in daytime soaps like 'Ryan's Hope' and 'One Life to Live', as well as mainstream hits like 'Baywatch', where she was named one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in 1995.

However, the pressures of fame coincided with personal tragedy. Following the 1989 cancellation of 'Ryan's Hope', Bleeth's mother, Carina, was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer and died within a year. During this period of grief, Bleeth took an eight-month hiatus from acting. Despite this, she eventually returned to the screen, becoming a spokesperson for the 'Wear Jeans to Work' campaign in 1998, which raised $5 million for breast cancer research in a single day.

Bleeth's struggle with cocaine dependence became public in 2000 when she voluntarily entered the Promises Rehabilitation Clinic. Despite the clinical advice against forming relationships during early sobriety, she met and fell in love with Paul Cerrito while in the program. Her road to recovery was marked by a 2001 arrest for driving while impaired and possession of cocaine, leading to a 2002 plea bargain. She eventually fulfilled her probation in 2004 and chronicled her 'drugs hell' in a 2003 Glamour article, describing a habit so severe she would go without sleep for five days at a time.

Today, Bleeth remains a symbol of the complexities of the entertainment industry. She has balanced her public persona with private advocacy, navigating a career that spans from 1960s commercials to a 2021 indie comedy comeback, all while maintaining a commitment to her sobriety.
