In short: Before becoming a mainstay in the South Korean girl group (G)I-dle, Shuhua was a student of theater in Taipei. Her journey from a trainee to an international brand ambassador highlights the rigorous path of modern multi-hyphenate stardom.

Born on January 6, 2000, in Yangmei, Taoyuan, Taiwan, Shuhua's background is rooted in diverse cultural heritage. She is the second of three daughters, born to a father from the Hakka subgroup and a mother who is Atayal, one of the indigenous peoples of Taiwan. This mixed ancestry informs her identity as she navigates multiple languages; while Mandarin is her native tongue, she is also proficient in Korean and possesses a good command of both English and Japanese.

Shuhua's path to stardom was deliberate. While studying theatre at Taipei's Hwa Kang Arts School, she was scouted by Cube Entertainment during their May 2016 Cube Star World Audition. After finishing her first year of high school, she moved to South Korea as a trainee for two years. During this period, she began building her public profile through promotional videos and music video appearances, eventually debuting with (G)I-dle on May 2, 2018, with the release of "I Am."

Her career has expanded far beyond music into athletics, variety shows, and cinema. During the 2019 16th Idol Star Athletics Championships, she took third place in rhythmic gymnastics and later featured on shows such as Paik Farther Don't Stop The Food! In 2023, she hosted the web show Workdol, and by late 2025, she was appointed as a tourism ambassador for her hometown of Taoyuan. Her transition into acting culminated in September 2026 with her debut in Happily Ever After at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Shuhua's trajectory illustrates the evolution of the modern idol into a versatile cultural figure. By balancing high-fashion brand ambassadorships for labels like Robinmay and D+AF with competitive athletics and film, she exemplifies the 'multi-hyphenate' model where musical success serves as a springboard for diverse artistic and civic roles.
