How a gold-medal garden found a permanent home at an NHS hospital
In short: Discover how a prize-winning garden from the 2023 RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival was repurposed into a sanctuary for patients and staff at St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey.
Originally designed by Nicola Hale and built by Landform, the garden was relocated in June 2024 and renamed The Serenity Garden. It uses a parterre-inspired structure featuring aromatic, pollinator-friendly plants, evergreen herbs, and three ornamental trees to foster wellbeing.
The design incorporates a weathered mild steel water feature and woven willow patterns on boundaries and planters. Its color scheme blends uplifting yellows and pinks with calming blues, lilacs, and white to create a restorative environment.
