Can the Saints break their five-year drought in the 2026 season?
In short: As the New Orleans Saints enter their 60th NFL season, the stakes have never been higher. After a disappointing 6–11 campaign, the team faces a critical year to reclaim their former glory and end a long period of postseason absence.
The 2026 campaign represents a significant milestone for the New Orleans franchise, marking their 60th season in the National Football League. However, the milestone is overshadowed by a period of struggle. The team enters the year attempting to move past a 6–11 record from the previous season, a performance that left them searching for consistency in a highly competitive division.
The leadership structure remains largely intact, though the team is navigating a relatively new era. This season marks the 14th year under the direction of general manager Mickey Loomis. On the sidelines, head coach Kellen Moore enters his second year at the helm, tasked with steering the roster through a challenging schedule that includes a high-profile Week 7 International Series game.
The primary objective for the Saints is to break a five-year drought. For half a decade, the team has failed to secure either a playoff appearance or an NFC South division title. This lack of postseason success has become the defining narrative of their recent history, making the 2026 season a vital turning point for the franchise's trajectory.
The road ahead is complicated by the volatility of the NFL schedule. While most game times are set, the networks and kickoff times for Weeks 5 through 17 remain subject to change due to flexible scheduling. Even the final game of the season, Week 18, will not be finalized until the conclusion of Week 17, adding an element of unpredictability to the Saints' pursuit of a comeback.
