In short: Few college quarterbacks navigate as many programs in as few seasons. After a whirlwind period of transfers and high-stakes competition, Anthony Colandrea has emerged as a prolific passer, proving that even a turbulent path can lead to dominant performances on the field.

Born on October 16, 2004, Anthony Colandrea’s collegiate career has been defined by rapid movement and intense competition. A standout at Lakewood High School in Florida, where he amassed over 7,300 passing yards, Colandrea first made his mark at the University of Virginia. During his freshman year, he became the first true freshman to start a home opener for the Cavaliers since 1977, earning ACC Rookie of the Week honors twice.

However, his time in Virginia was marked by volatility. After a promising start, he struggled through several losses and was eventually benched for the season finale against Virginia Tech. On December 1, 2024, Colandrea announced his move to the transfer portal, leading to a December 22 transfer to UNLV. At UNLV, he quickly established himself, leading the Rebels to an upset victory over UCLA—their first win against a Big Ten opponent since 2003.

His tenure with the Rebels saw significant statistical peaks, including a 382-yard performance against New Mexico and a season that helped UNLV reach the Mountain West Conference Championship Game. Yet, the cycle of change continued. On January 6, 2026, following a high-profile commitment shift by another player, Colandrea transferred to the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Under head coach Matt Rhule, he has already demonstrated his efficiency, securing Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors following a dominant four-touchdown performance against Bowling Green.
