From high school star to record-breaking quarterback across four major universities
In short: Chandler Morris’s football journey is a masterclass in resilience and movement. After a high school career marked by a perfect 16–0 season, he navigated the complexities of the transfer portal, playing for Oklahoma, TCU, North Texas, and Virginia to establish himself as a prolific collegiate playmaker.
Born in Houston on December 26, 2000, Morris grew up in a football family, the son of legendary coach Chad Morris. His high school career at Highland Park was nothing short of dominant; as a junior, he led his team to a perfect 16–0 record and a Class 5A-1 state championship, earning MVP honors after throwing for 4,036 yards and 46 touchdowns.
His collegiate path has been defined by constant adaptation. After initially committing to Arkansas, he joined the Oklahoma Sooners in 2020. Following a season as a third-string quarterback, he entered the transfer portal and moved to TCU in 2021. There, he experienced both the highs of an upset victory over No. 14 Baylor and the lows of a serious knee injury in 2022 that sidelined him for eight games.
Morris found immense success at North Texas in 2024, where he set a program single-season record with 35 total touchdowns. His production, including 3,774 passing yards, helped establish him as one of the most productive quarterbacks in the school's history. Following a third transfer, he joined the Virginia Cavaliers in late 2024, leading the program to its winningest season ever and an ACC Championship berth.
By 2025, Morris had become a cornerstone for Virginia, guiding them through a seven-game winning streak and a victory in the Gator Bowl, where he was named Bowl MVP. His journey from a three-star recruit to a professional tryout with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in May 2026 highlights a career of relentless persistence.
