From web series star to leading man: the rapid rise of Bae In-hyuk
In short: Since his 2019 debut, South Korean actor Bae In-hyuk has transitioned from minor web drama roles to commanding leading positions in major television series, building a diverse filmography through a relentless pace of production and consistent screen presence.
Bae In-hyuk's journey in the South Korean entertainment industry began in 2019 with his debut in the web film Love Buzz. He achieved significant success during his debut year, appearing in several web dramas including Kiss Scene in Yeonnamdong, Teacher, Would You Like to Date Me?, Triple Fling Season 2, and When You Love Yourself 2. This early period of intensive work laid the foundation for his transition to traditional television networks.
By 2020, Bae had expanded his reach into small-screen broadcasting, making his debut in the KBS production Men Are Men. A notable role was in the MBC production The Spies Who Loved Me, which secured him a Best New Actor nomination at the 2020 MBC Drama Awards. This recognition signaled his emergence as a rising talent capable of handling more complex narrative roles beyond the web-based format.
The years following his breakout nomination saw a steady ascent into prominent television roles. In 2021, he appeared in tvN's My Roommate Is a Gumiho and KBS's At a Distance, Spring Is Green. He achieved his first leading role in 2022 with the SBS drama Cheer Up, starring alongside Han Ji-hyun. After moving from UU Company to YY Entertainment in June 2023, he continued his trajectory, notably appearing in the romantic-comedy Our Universe in 2026, where he portrayed Seon Tae-hyung, a photography assistant turned guardian.
