The high-stakes spy mission behind the 2025 action epic Badass Ravi Kumar
In short: A secret film reel holds the keys to national security, including missile codes and agent identities. To recover it, a maverick Delhi cop must navigate a global web of crime, from the streets of Muscat to the United Kingdom, in a mission where personal loss and geopolitics collide.
Released on 7 February 2025, Badass Ravi Kumar is the second installment in The Xposé Universe. The film follows Ravi Kumar, a former maverick Delhi police officer known for defying orders and eliminating corrupt criminals. Reinstated for a high-stakes mission, Ravi works alongside Interpol agent Mahavir Ahuja and Commissioner Awasthi to retrieve a stolen film reel. This reel is of immense strategic importance, reportedly containing the aliases of Indian secret agents and critical missile codes.
The narrative's tension is driven by a chase spanning India, Oman, and the United Kingdom. The conflict centers on a secret reel that passed from the Pakistani official Syed Bashir to Laila, after which the crime lord Carlos Pedro Panther attempts to claim it. The mission becomes deeply personal for Ravi when he reconnects with his former flame, Madhubala, only to see her abducted by Carlos during the escalating conflict.
While the film's production was a significant undertaking—with filming spanning from September 2023 to April 2024—its release was marked by controversy and unique business strategies. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) mandated several edits, including blurring alcohol branding and toning down graphic violence and sensual visuals. Furthermore, the film's digital release has been delayed by a unique contractual stipulation from producer Himesch Reshammiya: while JioHotstar acquired the OTT rights, promotional clips and music videos remain exclusive to Reshammiya's YouTube channel, pushing the streaming debut to 18 April 2026.
