In short: Brian Callahan’s journey through the NFL is a study in extreme highs and lows. From celebrating a Super Bowl victory with the Denver Broncos to managing a difficult tenure as head coach for the Tennessee Titans, his career highlights the volatile nature of professional football coaching.

Born in Champaign, Illinois, on June 10, 1984, Brian Callahan followed in the footsteps of his father, Bill Callahan, a former head coach for the Oakland Raiders and Nebraska Cornhuskers. After playing quarterback and holder for the UCLA Bruins from 2002 to 2005, Callahan transitioned into coaching as a graduate assistant in 2006. His early career was marked by steady progression through various roles, including stints as a quarterbacks coach for the Detroit Lions and the Oakland Raiders.

A significant milestone arrived during his time with the Denver Broncos, where he was part of the staff that secured a Super Bowl 50 victory over the Carolina Panthers. Such achievement came before his influential tenure managing the Cincinnati Bengals' offence between 2019 and 2023. During this tenure, the Bengals reached Super Bowl LVI, ultimately falling to the Los Angeles Rams in a 23–20 contest, and later reached the AFC Championship Game in 2022 before losing to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Callahan’s ascent to head coach came on January 22, 2024, when he was hired by the Tennessee Titans. His first season was a mixture of early success and late struggle; he secured a notable 31–12 road victory against the Miami Dolphins in Week 4, but ultimately finished with a 3–14 record. This performance resulted in the Titans holding the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Following a difficult 1–5 start to the 2025 season, Callahan was fired by the Titans on October 13, 2025. He has since moved to the New York Giants, serving as quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator under head coach John Harbaugh.
