In short: From her dominant years at Temple University to winning WNBA championships and FIBA World Cups, Candice Dupree’s career is a testament to global excellence. Her journey spanned professional leagues across Europe and Asia, proving her ability to adapt and succeed as a premier force on the basketball court worldwide.

Candice Dupree’s ascent began in the collegiate ranks, where she played for Temple University from 2002 to 2006. Throughout these years, she garnered major honours, such as being recognised as the Philadelphia Big Five and Atlantic 10 Player of the Year throughout 2005 and 2006. Her defensive prowess was equally notable, earning her Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2005 and 2006, alongside multiple All-Defensive Team selections.

The Chicago Sky took Dupree with the 6th pick during the 2006 WNBA draft as she began her professional career. Her impact was immediate; as a rookie, she earned a spot on the Eastern Conference WNBA All-Star team. Over her career, she became a perennial All-Star, earning selections in 2006, 2007, 2009, 2014, 2015, and 2017. A defining moment of her career came in 2014 with the Phoenix Mercury, where she contributed to a record-breaking 29–5 regular season and secured a WNBA Championship, notably scoring 24 points and providing 6 assists in the final game of the series.

Beyond the WNBA, Dupree established herself as a global force. She played professionally in Poland, Slovakia, Russia, China, Hungary, and the Czech Republic. Her international success includes winning two FIBA World Cups with Team USA, including a gold medal at the 2010 World Championships. Despite the squad having just one practice session, Dupree recorded 6.0 rebounds per game and 9.2 points per game during that tournament. She presently serves as Tennessee State University's women's basketball head coach, maintaining her involvement in the sport.
