In short: In the high-stakes world of professional wrestling, Michael Lockwood became a legend by breaking the rules. Known as Crash Holly, he pioneered a chaotic '24/7' rule that meant his title could be stolen at any moment, in any location, from airports to circuses.

Michael Lockwood, known to millions as Crash Holly, transformed the WWF Hardcore Championship into a centerpiece of unpredictable entertainment. Starting on February 24, 2000, when he defeated Test, Lockwood introduced the '24/7 Rule.' This mechanism decreed that the title was perpetually contested, meaning anyone could win the championship at any time, provided a referee was present to count the pinfall. He famously defended the belt against non-wrestlers like road agents and referees. This unpredictable format made him a massive crowd favourite.

This rule turned the championship into a nomadic prize. Holly was frequently ambushed in unconventional settings, including hotels, airports, and even a circus. This constant state of vulnerability earned him the nickname 'The Houdini of Hardcore,' as he developed a signature tactic: sneaking a quick pinfall against an exhausted opponent and immediately fleeing backstage to evade challengers. He often survived these chaotic encounters by quickly running away from potential rivals. This frantic style defined his unique wrestling persona.

Beyond the hardcore division, Lockwood's career was marked by significant variety. He held the WWF Tag Team Championship alongside his kayfabe cousin, Hardcore Holly, and secured the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship in March 2001. Over his tenure with the WWF/WWE from 1999 to 2003, he secured over 25 championship reigns, including 22 individual Hardcore Championship wins. He also competed in a memorable survivor series match alongside the team Too Cool. Additionally, he participated in a Royal Rumble match against The Rock.

Lockwood's career was cut short when he died on November 6, 2003, at the age of 32. He had recently joined NWA Total Nonstop Action as 'Mad Mikey' after being released from WWE in June 2003. His death was officially ruled a suicide, occurring at the home of fellow wrestler Stevie Richards. He had previously established himself in Mexico under the mask as The Green Ghost. His final professional matches were fought alongside Shannon Moore.
