In short: Eric Burlison’s political trajectory is a study in rapid ascent. Moving from a career as a software engineer and business analyst to a seat in Congress, Burlison has navigated complex legislative landscapes, from healthcare compacts to high-profile investigations into UAPs and federal secrets.

Burlison’s political career began in the Missouri House of Representatives in 2008, where he served until 2016. While in this position, he occupied major leadership posts, such as heading the House Committee on Professional Registration and Licensing and acting as vice chair for the House Special Committee on Health Insurance. His legislative work during this period was notable for establishing the Missouri Health Care Compact in 2011, which was eventually adopted by seven other states. Furthermore, he obtained 2014 laws to boost school entry for kids with dyslexia and ratified a 2016 act removing Missouri's conceal and carry rules for guns.

The 20th District was represented by Burlison after he moved to the Missouri Senate in 2018. His work there included oversight of commerce, consumer protection, and energy. However, his legislative record also faced scrutiny; in 2022, he proposed a bill to bypass jury trials for those claiming self-defense in cases of deadly force, a move that drew bipartisan opposition and was labeled by a prosecutor as the “Make Murder Legal Act.”

Burlison entered the U.S. House of Representatives in 2023 after defeating Democratic nominee Kristen Radaker-Sheafer with 70.9% of the vote. Since then, his focus has expanded to include high-profile, often controversial topics. He has been vocal about the investigation into the Jeffrey Epstein client list and has advocated for UAP disclosure, even traveling to Mexico in July 2025 to examine the Nazca mummies. He currently serves on several committees, including the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the Department of Government Efficiency Committee.
