The resilient journey of Jordi Osei-Tutu through the highs and lows of professional football
In short: From the Arsenal academy to the intense leagues of Germany and Greece, the career of Jordi Osei-Tutu is a testament to perseverance. Beyond the statistics, his story involves navigating racial abuse, overcoming significant injuries, and finding a home across the European football landscape.
Born in Slough, Berkshire, on 2 October 1998, Jordi Osei-Tutu’s professional trajectory began in the prestigious Arsenal youth academy, which he joined in July 2015 after leaving Reading. By October 2015, he had secured his first professional contract, setting the stage for a career defined by frequent movement across various European divisions.
His time in Germany with VfL Bochum provided both early success and profound challenges. While he scored his first professional goal in a 3–1 victory over SV Wehen Wiesbaden on 24 August 2019, his second appearance for the club in July 2019 was marred by racial abuse during a friendly against St. Gallen. Despite these hardships, he completed a productive loan spell, contributing five goals and three assists over 21 appearances.
The subsequent years were marked by a series of loans and injury setbacks. A move to Cardiff City in August 2020 was interrupted by a serious hamstring injury in mid-October, which sidelined him for much of the season. Subsequent spells at Nottingham Forest and Rotherham United were also hampered by physical struggles, leading to the termination of his Nottingham loan in January 2022.
Osei-Tutu’s career has seen him traverse the English and European leagues, including a loan to PAS Giannina in Greece in early 2024 and a move to Bolton Wanderers in August 2024. As of August 2026, he continues his journey with Millwall, representing a career of constant adaptation and resilience in the face of both sporting and social adversity.
