In short: Before becoming a renowned Japanese actor and director, Kenjiro Tsuda faced a struggle so severe he agonized over the cost of a single piece of bread. Today, he finds himself at the center of a landmark legal fight regarding the ownership of his unique vocal identity.

Kenjiro Tsuda’s journey to stardom was marked by significant financial hardship. While pursuing his passion for performance, he lived in such poverty that even purchasing a single piece of bread was a source of intense anxiety. This period of struggle ended when he landed a role in the 1995 anime series H2, a pivotal moment that transformed his career trajectory.

Tsuda’s versatility has seen him move from voice acting to film direction. In 2019, he debuted as a director with 'Documentertainment AD-LIVE,' a project blending documentary and entertainment styles. He has also expanded his reach through various media, including starring in the short film 'GET SET GO' and achieving unexpected success with a photo book in 2023, which reached second place on the charts.

However, his distinct voice—a hallmark of his professional identity—has become a point of legal contention. In November 2025, Tsuda initiated a lawsuit in Tokyo against TikTok. He alleged that the platform allowed the unauthorized use of his voice in AI-generated speech, an exploitation of his publicity rights. While TikTok initially argued his voice was a generic male sound lacking a unique style, Tsuda ultimately won the case in the following autumn.

Beyond the screen, Tsuda has maintained a careful boundary between his public and private life. To protect his family, he chose not to officially announce his marriage for many years, a decision influenced by the privacy maintained by his favorite actors. He eventually addressed his marriage via Instagram in July 2020 after it was revealed in a weekly magazine.
