From collegiate standout to Olympic gold medalist: the rapid ascent of Korbin Shrader
In short: Born in Grayslake, Illinois, Korbin Shrader has quickly become a force in international soccer. After a standout collegiate career at Notre Dame, she transitioned to professional play in Europe and secured a gold medal with the United States national team at the 2024 Paris Olympics, all before turning twenty-two.
Korbin Shrader, born Korbin Rose Albert in 2003, established her reputation as a formidable midfielder through the United States youth national system and the Eclipse Select Soccer Club. Her collegiate career at the University of Notre Dame was marked by rapid success; she joined the team a year early in 2021 and earned nationwide freshman honors. By 2022, she was named a first-team All-American and the Atlantic Coast Conference Midfielder of the Year, finishing as a finalist for the prestigious Hermann Trophy.
In early 2023, Shrader bypassed her remaining collegiate eligibility to sign with Paris Saint-Germain. Her professional trajectory continued to climb as she made her senior international debut for the United States in December 2023. Her impact on the global stage was cemented during the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she provided the assist for the game-winning goal in the gold medal match against Brazil. Following her time in Paris, she moved to OL Lyonnes in July 2025 on a three-year contract.
Beyond her athletic achievements, Shrader has navigated significant public scrutiny. In March 2024, she faced criticism from teammates and the public after her social media activity revealed support for anti-LGBTQ+ content and a post mocking a fellow player's injury. She subsequently issued an apology on Instagram. In July 2025, she married Indianapolis Colts kicker Spencer Shrader, adopting her current surname as she continues her professional career in France.
