In short: After navigating a professional hockey career marked by high-stakes trades, championship glory, and persistent injuries, Landon Ferraro has found a new arena. Discover how the former Detroit Red Wings prospect transitioned from the ice to the commentator's desk.

Landon Ferraro’s professional journey began with significant promise. After being picked second in the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft by the Red Deer Rebels, this much-anticipated talent was chosen 32nd overall by Detroit's Red Wings during the 2009 NHL entry draft. His early years in the WHL saw him emerge as a leading scorer, notably recording 37 goals during the 2008–09 season. He played for Canada Pacific during the 2008 World U-17 Hockey Challenge, prior to his career advancement. He also competed for Canada at the 2009 IIHF World U18 Championships.

His path through the professional ranks was a complex series of triumphs and physical setbacks. Ferraro achieved significant success in the American Hockey League, helping the Grand Rapids Griffins capture the Calder Cup championship during the 2012–13 season, where he led the league with seven shorthanded points. However, his NHL career was frequently interrupted by injury, including knee issues in 2015 and a season-ending ACL injury while playing for the Chicago Wolves in 2016. His time with the Boston Bruins began in late 2015 after being claimed off waivers. Later, he joined the St. Louis Blues organization in 2016.

Beyond North America, Ferraro sought new challenges in Germany, playing for clubs such as Eisbären Berlin and Kölner Haie. Following the conclusion of his playing career in 2023, he pivoted to broadcasting. After two seasons as an analyst for Vancouver Canucks broadcasts on Sportsnet, he was announced in August 2026 as the new colour commentator for the Winnipeg Jets on TSN, stepping into the role previously held by Kevin Sawyer. His international experience also included playing for Team Canada at the 2022 Winter Olympics. He previously served as an analyst for the Vancouver Canucks on Sportsnet.
