Naná Silva is rewriting Brazilian tennis history as the youngest star of her generation
In short: Born in 2010, Naná Silva has rapidly ascended from junior circuits to professional WTA main draws. By age 14, she became the youngest player in the WTA rankings and the first of her birth year to win a professional tour match, signaling a new era for Brazilian tennis.
Nauhany Vitória Leme da Silva, known simply as Naná, has rapidly established herself as a formidable force in international tennis. Born on March 13, 2010, she entered the professional world rankings in 2024 at just 14 years, 6 months, and 10 days old, ranking 1291st. Her professional breakthrough arrived in 2025 at the inaugural SP Open in São Paulo, where she became the first player born in 2010 to secure a main-draw victory on the WTA Tour.
Silva’s trajectory is marked by significant milestones in both junior and professional competition. In 2026, she broke a 35-year drought for Brazilian women by winning the singles title at the traditional Brazil Juniors Cup, a feat she mirrored shortly after by winning the Banana Bowl. Her professional success includes titles at the W35 level in São Paulo and a W75 doubles title in Vacaria, alongside partner Laura Pigossi. By August 2026, she achieved a career-high WTA singles ranking of 594.
Beyond individual accolades, Silva has become a key representative for Brazil in the Billie Jean King Cup. Her performance in the 2026 Americas Zone Group I stage was instrumental, as she remained undefeated in singles and doubles play to help Brazil advance to the competition's play-offs. Drawing inspiration from figures like Beatriz Haddad Maia and gymnast Rebeca Andrade, Silva continues to navigate the transition between high-level junior play—including a runner-up finish at the 2026 Wimbledon girls' doubles—and the demands of the professional WTA circuit.
