A historic victory as Project Runway moves to a new network
In short: After a period of uncertainty following its 2023 conclusion, Project Runway returned in 2025. This twenty-first season marked a major shift, moving from Bravo to Freeform and introducing a revamped judging panel that included stylist Law Roach alongside returning icons.
Running from July 31 to September 25, 2025, the twenty-first season of the US reality show Project Runway aired. This season represented a significant transition for the franchise, marking its first run on the cable network Freeform after departing from Bravo, where it had aired since its 2004 debut. Alfred Street Industries and Spyglass Media Group co-produced the show, led by executive producers Dan Volpe, Nan Strait, Jane Lipsitz, Dan Cutforth, and Gary Barber. The production was originally reacquired from NBCUniversal in 2018 following the bankruptcy of the Weinstein Company. This new iteration consisted of a ten-episode run.
The competition featured twelve contestants, including returning participants Jesus Estrada and Caycee Black. The judging panel underwent a significant revamp, announced on March 24, 2025, featuring German model Heidi Klum and Colombian journalist Nina García. For the first time, stylist Law Roach joined the panel, while season four winner Christian Siriano returned to serve as a mentor. The season's conclusion saw Veejay Floresca make history as the first transgender woman to be announced as a winner of the franchise. The production team also included Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz. Additionally, the season's promotional trailer was released on July 1.
Floresca won a large prize bundle: $200,000 in cash, Agentry PR representation for six months, CFDA mentorship, and an Elle (US) magazine spread. Runners-up for the competition were Ethan Mundt and Jesus Estrada. Following the season's conclusion, Disney Television Group renewed the series for a twenty-second season on October 21, 2025. The runner-up Ethan Mundt has previously appeared on RuPaul's Drag Race. The series' renewal was confirmed by the Disney Television Group.
