In short: In professional football, the offensive line is often the unsung backbone of a team. Ronnie Stanley transformed this role into a high-stakes art form, evolving from a versatile college prospect into the highest-paid offensive lineman in the league through sheer technical mastery.

Stanley's journey to the NFL began at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, where he balanced varsity basketball and football. His transition to the University of Notre Dame in 2011 marked a pivotal shift. As a sophomore in 2013, he anchored an offensive line that ranked second in the Football Bowl Subdivision for fewest sacks allowed, a testament to his early technical proficiency.

The 2016 NFL Draft served as a major turning point. After a draft slide by Laremy Tunsil, the Baltimore Ravens selected Stanley 6th overall. He signed a four-year, $20.48 million rookie contract, which included a $13.09 million signing bonus. Despite the pressure of being a high first-round pick, Stanley quickly established himself as a reliable starter, navigating a rookie season that saw him rank as the third-highest graded rookie left tackle by Pro Football Focus.

His career reached a pinnacle in 2019. By week 15 of that season, he was instrumental in helping the Ravens break their own scoring record. On December 13, 2019, Pro Football Focus officially labeled him 'The best pass blocking tackle in the NFL,' leading to a First-team All-Pro designation in January 2020.

Stanley's career has been defined by physical resilience as much as technical skill. He has navigated significant injuries, including a concussion in 2017 and a season-ending ankle injury in 2020. Most recently, in 2024, he achieved a career milestone by playing in all 17 regular-season games, securing his second Pro Bowl selection before re-signing with the Ravens in March 2025.
