In short: Fredric J. Baur designed the iconic container we see on every shelf today. After his death, his family honored a final request that turned a piece of industrial design into a permanent resting place.

In 2008, Fredric J. Baur passed away just 20 days before his 90th birthday. Following his specific wishes, his family divided his remains after cremation. While most were placed in a traditional urn, a portion of his ashes was stored inside a Pringles can.

This specific container was then buried alongside the majority of his remains. A third portion of his ashes was kept by one of his grandchildren rather than being interred. The story highlights a unique intersection between industrial legacy and personal finality.
