A grand reopening: celebrating the renewed Arts of Africa galleries
Step inside The Met’s Michael C. Rockefeller Wing to witness the debut of its redesigned African art galleries. This special presentation features museum leadership and distinguished guests celebrating the space's recent transformation.
The video commemorates the revitalized galleries within the Michael C. Rockefeller Wing. Led by Alisa LaGamma, the museum's curator for African art, the tour is joined by Director and CEO Max Hollein and special guests including Angélique Kidjo and Manthia Diawara.
The presentation also features rare archival footage: a Super-8 sound film by Henry John Drewal, captured in the Republic of Benin and Nigeria during the spring of 1971.
