In short: Discover how a simple observation in a department store led to a revolutionary kitchen appliance. This video explores the origins of the Lean Mean Fat Reducing Machine and the inventor's process for perfecting its unique design.

In the late 1980s, inventor Michael Boehm noticed a significant flaw in existing kitchen technology: no grills on the market were capable of cooking meat on both sides simultaneously. This observation sparked the idea for a device that could cook food from both sides while actively draining fat away during the process.

To validate his concept, Boehm used cast iron skillets positioned at an angle to simulate his new design. He then conducted experiments by cooking burgers on this makeshift contraption to measure exactly how much fat could be successfully drained away.
