Why your paper passport is an obsolete relic of bureaucracy
In short: Entrepreneur Karoli Hindriks argues that our current travel documents are inefficient and outdated. Inspired by Estonia's digital government, she explores how transitioning to universal digital passports can eliminate repetitive hurdles and streamline global movement.
The core of Hindriks' argument lies in moving beyond paper-based systems that waste time and money. By adopting a digital upgrade, she envisions a future where immigration processes are no longer hindered by unnecessary bureaucracy.
The proposal draws inspiration from Estonia's technology-driven approach to governance. The goal is to create a seamless experience where digital identities replace physical documents to facilitate smoother international travel.
