The microscopic jungle on your face is a laboratory for the future
In short: We often treat microbes as enemies to be eradicated with disinfectants. However, microbiologist Anne Madden argues that these tiny organisms are actually untapped resources for revolutionary medicines and new technologies.
Microbes inhabit nearly every surface, from the soil in your backyard to the skin on your cheeks. While modern society maintains an adversarial relationship with these organisms through constant sanitization, they function as "microscopic alchemists.", possessing biological potential that remains largely unexplored.
By shifting our perspective from extermination to observation, we can unlock the secrets of these organisms to develop future innovations. The video explores why these microbes are not "gross" but are essential components of the next technological frontier.
