Optimizing deep learning models improves the accuracy of recognizing emotions in speech

In short: Researchers developed a new computational method to better identify human emotions from spoken words. By combining a convolutional neural network (CNN) with a long short-term memory (LSTM) layer, the team created a model capable of capturing both local and long-term patterns in speech. They further enhanced this system by using a stochastic fractal search algorithm to automatically find the best settings for the model's internal parameters.

This approach addresses the common problem of small datasets and manual tuning in AI. The researchers tested their method on four different speech emotion datasets, achieving recognition accuracies between 98.13% and 99.76%. While the results show high stability, the study is limited to the specific performance of these algorithms on existing speech datasets.
