Is Earth prepared for the next major asteroid impact?
In short: Sixty-five million years ago, a massive asteroid strike wiped out 80% of Earth's species. This documentary explores how modern science is mapping our solar system to detect and deflect incoming cosmic threats before they hit.
While thousands of unseen space rocks enter our atmosphere annually, global scientists and space agencies are working to identify potentially hazardous near-Earth objects. The film details the transition from observation to active intervention, highlighting groundbreaking sample-return missions and historic planetary defense tests designed to physically deflect asteroids off their paths.
The narrative provides context on humanity's first steps toward establishing a planetary defense system, moving beyond mere tracking to proactive protection against future extinction-level events.
