The final countdown: How humanity prepares for a cosmic collision
In short: When a massive asteroid is detected on a direct path to Earth, the world enters a high-stakes race against time. This documentary explores our global defense systems and the desperate measures we would take to prevent a planetary catastrophe.
The video examines the infrastructure of modern planetary defense, focusing on how scientists track thousands of near-Earth objects. It details the transition from detection to action, highlighting the sequence of global warning systems and last-chance deflection strategies designed to divert an incoming threat.
Beyond our technological response, the documentary explores the physical reality of a failed defense. It illustrates what the planet would endure if an impact were unavoidable, providing a sobering look at the scale of such a geological event.
