The precarious transition from water to land for a newborn calf

In short: Watch a few-days-old elephant calf navigate its very first bath. While the water provides a refreshing introduction to the wild, the real challenge lies in the physical struggle of climbing back out.

Filmed in Kenya's Tsavo wilderness, this footage captures a newborn African elephant calf being guided into a waterhole by a protective nanny elephant. The video highlights the physical difficulty the calf faces when attempting to exit the water, showcasing the early learning curve of these massive mammals.

The footage provides a rare close-up look at wild elephant behavior. While African elephants are statistically among the world's most dangerous animals—killing more people than lions—the narrator suggests this danger is often a direct result of human actions rather than innate aggression.
