How a single ant colony can destabilize an entire forest ecosystem
In short: Witness the relentless expansion of a driver ant colony as they establish a new home within a fallen tree, triggering a wave of predatory aggression across the forest floor.
The video captures the intense construction phase of a driver ant colony moving into the base of a fallen tree. Driven by the hunger of the nest's grubs, these ants launch large-scale raids that threaten various forest residents, including spiders, scorpions, and forest crabs.
The footage highlights the high-stakes battle against termites, the ants' most formidable opponents. These termites possess jaws capable of crushing an ant to pulp, forcing the ants to rely on chemical weapons to survive the encounter.
