Bioluminescence may be the biological norm rather than a rare exception
In short: Guided by Sir David Attenborough, this documentary reveals a hidden world of living light. Using new technology, it exposes how bioluminescence exists everywhere from deep ocean trenches to backyard soil.
While often perceived as a rare biological curiosity, bioluminescence may actually be a standard feature of our planet's ecosystems. The film explores how this pervasive light production provides essential clues for understanding global biological balances and the impacts of global warming.
The documentary highlights that these glowing organisms inhabit diverse environments, including the ocean and the ground beneath our feet, which were previously invisible to human observation until recent technological advancements.
