Tracing the footsteps of the unsung hero of natural science
In short: Join comedian Bill Bailey as he retraces the extraordinary journey of Alfred Russel Wallace through the wilds of Indonesia to find the magnificent, elusive Birds of Paradise.
The film explores the life of Alfred Russel Wallace, a brilliant yet often overlooked British explorer. Wallace's expeditions were marked by extreme peril, including encounters with man-eating tigers, pirate attacks, sinking ships, and head-hunting tribesmen.
Beyond his survival, Wallace's work fundamentally changed our understanding of life on Earth. The footage captures the pursuit of the rare Birds of Paradise, a discovery Wallace himself described as his greatest achievement.
