The mountain parrots that turned human presence into a playground
In short: Discover the kea, a New Zealand parrot that thrives in harsh alpine climates. This documentary explores how their high intelligence and curiosity have allowed them to adapt to human-dominated landscapes, creating a unique dynamic between wildlife and civilization.
Native to New Zealand's cold, snowy mountains, keas have evolved exceptional resourcefulness to survive extreme environments. Their natural curiosity drives them to investigate and explore their surroundings, making them difficult to ambush and highly capable of navigating complex situations.
As human activity expands into these mountain regions, the keas have treated the new environment as a playground for their intellectual abilities. However, despite their wit and adaptability, the species faces an uncertain future, and their long-term survival remains a significant concern.
