In short: Follow the journey of a praying mantis navigating the harsh, biodiverse grasslands of Southern Italy. This documentary captures its struggle against formidable predators and rivals in one of Europe's most distinct ecosystems.
Born in the dry grasslands near Matera—the 2019 European Capital of Culture—this mantis inhabits a landscape shared by lesser kestrels and rollers. The video explores the insect's precarious existence as it faces off against dangerous neighbors, including black widow spiders and frightening saga pedo crickets.
The narrative highlights the biodiversity of the Mediterranean steppes, specifically focusing on the dry riverbanks that serve as a primary hunting ground and battlefield for these predators.
