Tracking the ghost of the Himalayas through the oxygen-deprived death zone
In short: Experience a rare, intimate encounter with one of the world's most elusive apex predators. This footage captures the moment a snow leopard emerges from its rocky sanctuary to reclaim a fresh kill.
The expedition moves into the Tibetan Plateau's 'death zone,' an environment where survival depends on extreme biological adaptations. While navigating this high-altitude landscape, researchers observe diverse wildlife including pikas and the Tibetan fox.
By following griffon vultures—the region's primary scavengers—the team identifies a fresh carcass. This leads to a stealthy observation of a snow leopard emerging from the rocks, providing a rare glimpse into the behavior of this master predator in its natural habitat.
