A dangerous mission to observe the secret life of a polar bear family
In short: Wildlife cameraman Gordon Buchanan attempts a high-stakes mission to gain the trust of a polar bear and her cub. This footage offers a rare look at the family life of these enigmatic animals.
For years, scientists and filmmakers could only catch fleeting glimpses of polar bears, lacking the ability to follow individuals to document their family dynamics. Gordon Buchanan seeks to change this by observing a single family over the course of a year.
Building on his experience from the series The Bear Family and Me, Buchanan undertakes this ambitious and potentially dangerous mission to record details of polar bear life that have previously remained unknown.
