How an overworked industrial artery became Germany's premier success in renaturation
In short: Once a victim of heavy industrialization, the Wupper River is undergoing a dramatic ecological rebirth. This film captures the transformation from a hardworking waterway back into a vibrant, pulsing ecosystem.
The video showcases the results of one of Germany's most successful renaturation projects, documenting how dedicated conservation efforts have restored the river's lost magnificence. It provides rare footage of the winding river bed and specific wildlife returning to the area, including spawning salmon and mating crabs.
Viewers can observe a diverse array of fauna, from dipper birds foraging underwater and kingfishers hunting fish to the family lives of badgers and foxes. The film highlights these biological milestones as evidence of the river's successful recovery from industrial overuse.
