Our separation from the natural world is a modern invention
In short: Filmmaker Damon Gameau explores how humanity's perception of itself as superior to nature has fueled industrial progress while simultaneously pushing the planet toward an ecological crisis. He argues for a fundamental shift in our narrative.
For centuries, the prevailing human story has been one of separation and dominance over the environment. While this mindset drove significant economic and industrial advancement, Gameau suggests it is now responsible for current environmental instability.
The talk advocates for moving toward a regenerative future by adopting a new narrative that emphasizes our deep interconnectedness with the natural world rather than our independence from it.
