A world that may vanish within 50 years
In short: Travel from Canada to Norway to witness a fragile Arctic realm under threat. This documentary captures the delicate balance of life above and below the ice in a landscape rapidly altered by a warming climate.
The journey explores the contrasting social structures of Arctic residents, from maternal polar bears and social harp seals to solitary ringed seals in the Hudson Bay. It highlights a harsh ecological cycle where many newborns perish in extreme cold, providing nutrients for scavengers like the elusive Greenland shark found beneath the ice.
By documenting these 'fleeting shadows of life,' the film addresses a critical concern shared by researchers: that this unique environment may disappear within 50 years due to rising temperatures.
