The brutal hierarchy of the web: when small spiders steal big catches
In short: Witness a high-stakes heist in the arachnid world. This footage captures a tiny spider's daring attempt to hijack a meal from a much larger predator.
In this segment from the BBC Earth series 'Trials of Life,' a Nephila spider successfully captures prey in its expansive web. However, the success is short-lived as a smaller spider intervenes to steal the prize.
Narrated by Sir David Attenborough, this documentary explores the complex behaviors of animal life, from birth to reproduction. The production involved three and a half years of filming and nearly 250,000 miles of travel to document these rare natural interactions.
