The invisible line between human companionship and wild instinct
In short: This documentary explores the high-stakes reality of living alongside apex predators. From Hollywood sets to conservation efforts, it examines the dedication, dangers, and ethical complexities of managing animals that were never meant to be domestic.
The film contrasts our ancient bonds with dogs and cats against the modern phenomenon of exotic animal ownership. It highlights the extreme environments where professional trainers manage massive lions and predatory Kodiak bears, as well as multi-generational handlers working with Australia's deadliest reptiles.
Beyond entertainment, the documentary looks at conservation in Tasmania, where caretakers hand-raise orphaned Tasmanian devil cubs. These efforts are critical for a species facing a devastating facial tumor disease, illustrating the tension between preserving wild instincts and human intervention.
