The high-stakes, dangerous reality of modern wildlife conservation
In short: From tracking elusive cats in Europe to facing armed smugglers in Africa, conservation is a grueling test of stamina. This documentary highlights the diverse, often perilous work required to protect our planet's most vulnerable species.
The film explores four distinct conservation efforts: monitoring the offspring of the rare lynx in central Europe—nearly 200 years after their wild extinction—and solving the mystery of dead elk calves on Sweden's Øland island. It also highlights the life-threatening risks faced by guards protecting lowland gorillas and forest elephants from the ivory smuggling and bush meat trades in Africa.
In the United States, the narrative shifts to the rescue of manatees in Florida. These stories illustrate the dedication of individuals who risk their safety to preserve biodiversity, showcasing the global scale of the fight to prevent the loss of endangered species.
