The first woman to achieve a perfect podium record in F1 Academy
In short: Abbi Pulling didn't just win the 2024 F1 Academy championship; she dominated it with a level of consistency rarely seen in motorsport. From her debut on the world stage to breaking gender barriers in Saudi Arabia, Pulling's trajectory offers a masterclass in navigating the high-stakes ladder of professional racing.
Pulling's ascent began in the karting circuits of Britain, where she secured two Super 1 National Junior TKM titles in 2017 and 2018. By 2020, she transitioned to single-seater racing in the F4 British Championship, finishing sixth in the standings. Her career faced a significant hurdle in 2021 when a lack of budget forced her to withdraw from the F4 series, a common obstacle in the demanding financial landscape of professional motorsports.
Her breakthrough came through strategic affiliations. In 2021, she joined the W Series as a reserve driver, eventually securing a podium in Austin. This led to a 2022 signing with Alpine as part of their Affiliate programme. Before the 2022 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, a landmark moment was reached as Aseel Al-Hamad and Pulling debuted as the initial females to pilot a Formula 1 vehicle within Saudi Arabia. By 2023, she was promoted to a full-time member of the Alpine Academy.
The 2024 season served as her definitive statement. Competing for Rodin Motorsport, Pulling secured the F1 Academy drivers' championship, becoming the first driver in the series to achieve a perfect podium record. She also set a record for the most wins in a single season with nine. Following her championship success, she expanded her portfolio into coaching and media, serving as a mentor for the 2025 season and a part-time co-commentator for the series.
