From karting prodigy to the Ferrari Driver Academy's rising star
In short: In just five years, Alba Hurup Larsen has transitioned from junior karting championships to the upper echelists of single-seater racing. Now a member of the prestigious Ferrari Driver Academy, the Danish driver is navigating the high-stakes world of F1 Academy and international championships.
Alba Hurup Larsen's ascent through the motorsport ranks began in 2020, when she entered the world of karting. Her early career featured notable triumphs in IAME-managed competitions, such as securing the 2023 Zealand Karting Championship within the Dasu junior category. Her talent was further recognized when she won the senior category of the FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars programme in 2023. During this formative period, she also began receiving mentorship from former Formula One driver Kevin Magnussen.
Larsen's transition to single-seaters began at the end of 2024 in the F4 Indian Championship with MP Motorsport-run Speed Demons Delhi, where she secured a sixth-place finish in Chennai. Her 2025 campaign saw a rapid expansion of her racing portfolio. She competed in the Formula Winter Series with Jenster Motorsport, moving through challenging rounds in Algarve, Valencia, and Aragon. By April 2025, she had also secured a part-time seat with Chris Dittmann Racing in the F4 British Championship.
The driver's progression reached a milestone in August 2025 when she officially joined the Ferrari Driver Academy. Her F1 Academy performances for MP Motorsport, supported by Tommy Hilfiger, have been marked by both high-speed drama and regulatory hurdles. While she has faced penalties—such as a post-race demotion from third to 11th in Montreal—she has demonstrated remarkable resilience, securing double podiums at Zandvoort and finishing the season seventh overall. Larsen promotes gender diversity in racing via her Girls International Racing Lab (G.I.R.L.) project, which garnered the 2025 FIA Women in Motorsport Award.
